ACOs: Docs, Hospitals A-OK On Revisions To Final Rule

The regulations, which were released Thursday, relaxed requirements for doctors and hospitals to participate in the program. Some insurers and employers, however, complained that the changes will increase the chances that providers will consolidate, which could reduce competition and drive up costs.

Let’s take the first prong. Anorexia nervosa is indisputably a medical condition, not a trivial body image problem. It has one of the highest mortality rates among psychiatric disorders. Girls, women and, increasingly, males with anorexia nervosa typically develop defects in perception that could fairly be called delusional. Imagine a skeletal teen weighing 68 pounds who looks at herself the mirror only to see a fat girl staring back.

Insurance to Cover Contraception

Starting in August 2012, insurance companies have been instructed to cover contraception. Women covered by private health insurance will no longer have to pay for birth control prescriptions, family planning, nor seven other services aimed at preventing disease and promoting well-being in women.

The Affordable Care Act signed by President Obama in March 2010 required that certain preventive care services, such as colonoscopies and vaccinations, be offered with no out-of-pocket costs to patients. It also directed the federal health agency to take a hard look at gaps in covered services for women.

Starting a year from now, women renewing their insurance coverage will receive free screening for domestic violence, diabetes during pregnancy, and human papillomavirus in women 30 and older.

Life insurance complaints during 2009-2010

Life insurance in India gained momentum since the entry of private insurance companies. Currently there are 23 life insurance companies that are operational in the country which includes 22 private life insurance companies and LIC of India. Life insurance products that cater to different needs of a customer include plans like Term Insurance Plan, Endowment Plan, Money-back plan, Pension Plan, Unit-linked Insurance Plan (ULIP), Child Plan etc.

All the private and public insurance companies in India are governed by the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority (IRDA). Each year, IRDA’s grievance cell receives thousands of complaints from customers.
