We want your holidays to be filled with fun, family, friends, and food. Not fires.

The U.S. Fire Administration reports that approximately 2,000 Thanksgiving Day fires in the US occur every year, resulting in 5 deaths, 25 injuries, and $21,000,000 ($21M) in property loss. We don’t want you to end up included in those statistics.

  • Don’t leave cooking food unattended, and be sure to set timers.
  • Ensure you’re using well-insulated potholders.
  • Wear clothes that fit more snugly, with shorter sleeves so that your garments don’t get caught on pot handles, utensils, etc.
  • Be sure your knives are sharp and know how to handle them properly.
  • Keep children and pets out of the kitchen.
  • Be very cautios with hot oil, and NEVER throw water on a grease fire.

UnitedHealth Agrees To Acquire Medicare Managed-Care Insurer XLHealth
UnitedHealth Group Inc. (UNH), the largest U.S. health insurer by sales, said it will buy XLHealth Corp., a provider of managed care for chronically ill Medicare members, to strengthen a growth area likely to gain increasing support from the U.S. government as it trims costs. The purchase price was about $2 billion, according to a person familiar with the deal who asked not to be identified because the price wasn’t disclosed. … The purchase of XLHealth, with 111,000 members, is the seventh since Jan.

Former Aviva sales and marketing director John Kitson has been helping Towergate with consultancy work.

Kitson had been working for a few days with Hodges.

Hodges was formerly Aviva UK chief executive and became friends with Kitson while they worked together at the UK’s largest general insurer.

Kitson is currently using his business skills to help artists in Norwich build their businesses.
