It’s a common scene these days, believe it or not, for many parked cars anywhere. A task force in an association of state insurance commissioners has endorsed a bill in Congress that would exclude insurance agent and broker compensation from health reform‘s medical loss ratios.
The Professional Health Insurance Advisors Task Force of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) overwhelmingly supported H.R. 1206, the Professional Health Insurance Advisors Act of 2011, sponsored by Rep. Mike Rogers (R-Mich.).
Insurance agents and brokers have seen commissions from health insurers drop by as much as 50% since the implementation of requirements under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, the landmark health reform law passed in March 2010.
