An insurance agent in Hawaii was sentenced to 30 months in prison for filing false Schedule C tax forms by overstating his business expenses for tax years 2003 through 2007.
The man, Herbert Y Ushiroda Jr., 62, of Honolulu, also was ordered to pay a $20,000 fine, as well as restitution of $911,878 to the Internal Revenue Service and $205,715 to the state of Hawaii.
He pleaded guilty Dec. 15, 2010, to evading the payment of income taxes for the 2006 calendar year, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Hawaii.
Ushiroda, whose business was on Maui, falsely stating the cost of doing business on his Schedule C for that year.
